Diversity Statement

Peak House welcomes clients from all walks of life, cultural backgrounds, sexual orientations, genders and gender expressions.  There is no tolerance for racism, homophobia, classism, transphobia, or any other form of discrimination at Peak House.

We are accountable toward clients, and toward one another, within the community of Peak House, especially in regards to practices regarding gender, race, ethnicity, culture, age, sexuality, social class, and disabilities.

At Peak House we are committed to creating a welcoming environment for all residents. As such we incorporate various cultural wisdoms, education and teachings into our program and staff training. We strongly value our diverse staff team.

Ethics Policy

All employees of Peak House are expected to uphold the agency’s code of ethical conduct as well as professional ethics as outlined in the Ethics Statements of relevant professional organizations, including but not limited to (see also Appendix C):

  • British Columbia Association of Social Workers
  • Federation of Child and Family Services of British Columbia
  • Child and Youth Care Association of British Columbia
  • Code of Ethics, Alcohol and Drug Programs (Appendix B)
  • RCC (Registered Clinical Counsellor)

Ethical Principles & Practices

All Peak House employees will conduct themselves consistent with the following ethical principles and practice requirements:

  • Respect for the uniqueness of the youth we serve, including their values and beliefs as well as their potential for growth and development
  • Respect for, honouring of, and upholding of the rights of youth
  • Promoting the health, safety and well-being of the youth that we serve, their families and support networks, and the communities they live in
  • Caring, support, and striving to enhance the dignity of the youth we serve
  • Practice that emphasizes partnerships with the youth we serve, their families and support networks, and the community including other community agencies
  • Respect for diversity, cultural heritage, and spiritual beliefs
  • Commitment to competent and accountable practice that is both ethical and responsible
  • Commitment to professional and organizational excellence through an accountable, transparent and results oriented approach to delivering services
